  1. I'm awake most mornings but I don't think I'll start gaming. I was actually talking about overall time played in games but the day-t-day is fine for conversation too.
  2. I had a conversation with new colleagues and friends about how many hours people play video games. The definition and archetypes of a gamer in relation to hours and how do those hours translate into anything else. I want to start this topic with this context of discovering and discussing new ideas with the overarching question being how many hours makes for a casual player, an experienced player and someone who has mastered the game?
  3. A few friends have recommended this show on Hulu / FX (Disney Plus) for some. I started watching it and it is one of the best shows I have seen around the Japanese and the Japanese culture of the warring period. Its a historical fiction. The character of Blackthorne is loosely based on the historical English navigator William Adams, who in Japan rose to become a samurai under a powerful daimyō. That daimyō was later the founder and first shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan, Tokugawa Ieyasu, who ruled from 1603 to his death in 1616. Shōgun is an American historical drama television miniseries created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks. It is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by James Clavell, which was previously adapted into a 1980 miniseries.
  4. Certain Affinity, which has worked as a support studio on games including Halo Infinite, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, New World, and Hogwarts Legacy, has announced that it is laying off 25 employees, representing roughly 10% of the studio's workforce. Word of the layoffs came in a message from founder and CEO Max Hoberman (via Eurogamer), who said it was the first time employees at the studio have been laid off since Certain Affinity was founded in 2006. Hoberman said the game industry as a whole has faced "unprecedented challenges" over the past year, and that multiple factors played a role in the decision to let people go. "Most significant is an industry-wide slow down in the funding of new lead and co-development projects and the reluctance of third party investors to fund games or game companies," Hoberman wrote. "This has made it exceptionally difficult to sign new work or secure other forms of funding." Employees being let go will be given severance pay and "benefits continuation," Hoberman said. "We are also making their vested awards under our Stock Equity Plan portable so they may benefit from the company’s success in the future." Rumors surfaced in May 2022 that Certain Affinity was working on a new game mode for Halo Infinite, codenamed Tatanka, that was reportedly a battle royale and that at one point had close to 100 developers working on it. That project was never formally announced, and in January 2024 multiple sources said Microsoft had pulled the plug on it.
  5. Thanks for doing this truly, as I mentioned before I really have no intention of supporting the show by watching it but I am indeed very curious as to what is happening and how other people are still watching.
  6. They released more than just the GeForce RTX 4070 Super.. great technology though games as of late have been poorly optimized.
  7. How are you enjoying The Division @reenbean2895? Also. Nice choice for a profile picture.
  8. I like the honesty and workaround for the 3 shot burst mechanism. Maybe the DMR would be easier to make but between the two rifles the BR is probably more iconic.
  9. Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law banning children under age 14 from having their own social media accounts Following other Republican-led states amid a national push to crack down on minors’ access to online platforms over safety fears. “You can have a kid in the house safe, seemingly, and then you have predators that can get right in there into your own home,” DeSantis said during a news conference Monday. “You could be doing everything right, but they know how to get and manipulate these different platforms.” The new law prohibits children 13 and younger from creating social media profiles and requires parental consent for those who are 14 and 15. Social media platforms will be required to delete existing accounts for children younger than 14 — though account holders will have a 90-day period to dispute terminations. If platforms “knowingly or recklessly” violate the law, they face up to $50,000 per violation in civil penalties. The bill also bans minors from “pornographic or sexually explicit” websites and requires age verification to access these sites. Major social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, require users to be at least 13 — a requirement that stems from the 1998 Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, which banned the collection of children’s personal data without parental consent. However, a survey published in 2022 by the nonprofit research organization Common Sense Media found an upswing in usage among children ages 8 to 12. Its an interesting outlook for what the internet will look like in Florida but one that I can support. I'm interested in hearing some thoughts on this so please share a comment! 10. I think its likely we will see the Gravemind sooner. With the success of James Ackerson in the series I see it continuing pushing the narrative and story a different direction. I still do not like the show and the Silver Timeline so whatever possible to end it I am hoping for. The Flood taking over and ending the show would probably redeem it.
  11. Was watching the rebroadcast and apparently Wutum is the first mouse and keyboard player to play at that level. Its very impressive to see a strong m/kb user in the space and I am sure 343 industries sees it as a sign of success in their tuning.
  12. In a lengthy tweet, Marty O'Donnel has came forward to announce that he is campaigning to join Congress. Martin O'Donnell is an American composer, audio director, and sound designer known for his work on video game developer Bungie's series, such as Myth, Oni, Halo, and Destiny. We know him well here for all kinds of things beyond music but nothing could lead to this. I never wanted to be a politician and I still don’t. I’ve had two successful careers and have started a few small businesses. I’ve also worked for some big corporations. I was ready to retire and spend more time with my family – which I’ve done for the past 3 years. I think they’re ready for me to find something else to do. I’m tired of seeing the leaders of our country being influenced by the toxic divisions that are tearing apart our families and society. It’s time for me to step up and do my civic duty. To give back and try and change things for the better. If not me, who? If not now, when? It’s easy to look at the economy and realize that something has gone horribly wrong. Working people, the middle class, and small businesses have been losing ground over the past 20 years. The goose that lays the golden eggs for our country has been kicked around and squeezed to the point where laying more golden eggs is almost impossible. Consider that since 2000 the cost of food has risen more than double the rise in average household income. The cost of a home has risen 6 times and the amount of government spending 5 and a half times. The S&P 500 has gone up 9 times more than the rise in average household income. To everyone who works and is trying to do the right thing for their family, to everyone who is young and wonders why their lives are worse than their parents: you are not wrong. And yet, who have we allowed to have the most influence over our government? Big corporate executives and big union bosses. Big tech, big pharma, big media, big whatever – all trying to control big government in Washington DC. This needs to stop. Our government spends money on the wrong things and spends way too much. One thing the federal government should certainly be responsible for is the security of our borders. Instead, we see millions of people coming in without any accounting for who they are, what they intend to do, or what they’re bringing with them. And they’re being given access to all sorts of handouts at our expense. At a minimum, the federal government and the state governments should be working together to enforce existing laws and secure the border. Seeing our government at war with itself is unacceptable. For my whole life, in every place I’ve ever lived, I’ve seen people working to provide for their family. Values like self-sacrifice, faith, integrity, fidelity, and valor are simply part of who these people are. They do these things not because the government tells them to, but because they know the right things to do - moral obligations that are freely chosen, not mandated by a government. It doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it takes a family, and it takes families to make a village. The sad reality is that many children in our country are suffering. Years of ridiculing and demeaning old fashioned “family values” have taken a toll. Our society’s strength, fundamentally linked to the vitality of the family structure, has been eroded. I want to champion the traditional family as critical for a child’s development and success. The data proves this. However, my approach will be inclusive, recognizing all who step up to provide for their children. I’m not worried about the government being a safety net. I want the government to stop being an impediment. I’m ready to go to DC and see if I can help bring back sanity and civility to the public discourse on these issues and all the other issues that face our great nation. We need bold leaders for such a time as this. https://martyforcongress.vote Here below is the original Tweet
  13. I didn't see a topic already on this so thought to create it. I understand not everyone is following Apple but if you follow technology this might be interesting to you.
