Created in 2537 by Dr. Halsey, she was a third-generation smart AI who would not formally end her service until the fall of Reach in 2552, seemingly surpassing the limits of an AI’s seven-year lifespan. Dr. Halsey accomplished this by decompiling, selectively editing, and reconstructing Kalmiya many times over as she used this AI to test and refine techniques and algorithms for data analysis and cyberwarfare that would prove to be instrumental in Cortana’s creation and service.
