I don't know if anyone has been following this story. A Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II jet went down near Joint Base Charleston, S.C., on Sunday afternoon, and the pilot ejected safely and was in stable condition, the base said. Officials found the missing jet’s debris field Monday evening in Williamsburg County, about two hours northeast of Joint Base Charleston.

But for about 24 hours, responders weren’t sure where the plane ended up.

The jet’s transponder, which usually helps locate the aircraft, was not working “for some reason that we haven’t yet determined,” said Jeremy Huggins, a spokesman at Joint Base Charleston. “So that’s why we put out the public request for help.”

Its a little ridiculous and embarrassing to lose a fighter jet and need the public to also search for it. Someone is definitely going go get into some trouble for this and I hope its one or all of the vendors given blank checks. Lockheed Martin leads the F-35 industry team with Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems and Pratt & Whitney, all making billions of dollars from US government contracts.

Right? its dangerous to lose something like that let alone have it aimlessly flying under radars as a stealth jet. At worst it could’ve hit someone’s house or a building with families and workers in it.
