Matrix, New Social Platform

I know our staffs been busy looking at all kinds of high ticket items these past months and this might already have been posted but I wanted to know as a community always watching new technology, if anyone has used Matrix.

Matrix is a open protocol for decentralized, secure communications. Where you have to set up your own server but have immediate access to more options through APIs.

I feel like I did come across this before, but I searched the forums and didn't see a post about it. Maybe in one of the units we share (or don't share) its stored in the forums but I don't think we talked about this one. 

It looks cool, I don't really have too much time to mess with it though right now.
