In many countries, the traditional avenue to find employment is through a recruiter or search firm. Printed newspapers are also still the standard resource for job classifieds in many places. In some continents, such as Africa, these two avenues are still most prevalent and there are fewer online resources.

Because of the rising incidence of identity theft, when responding to openings be cautious about providing too much of your private information until you are sure of the legitimacy of the job opportunity and organization. CRN has carefully recommended Internet resources that provide you with useful information and tools. Note that some web sites may include fee-based services. There is no obligation to utilize any site or purchase any services.

International job board directories

• International Jobs from Transitions Abroad.
• The Riley Guide - International Job Boards is an excellent listing of Internet job boards specializing in international jobs.

Global and cross-national job boards 

• ExpatEngineer.net is a job portal for international engineers.
• LatPro.com provides job listings in the US and Latin America. Site available in Spanish and Portuguese as well as English.
• MBA-Exchange.com requires a lengthy free registration, but is valuable for connecting business talents with recruiters, with special emphasis on international jobs. Select your school if it is already a partner or put in your school name if not registered. Founded five years ago by an INSEAD alumnus, the site claims over 50,000 registered members, 800 companies, and over 40 business schools.
• Jobs.com International is part of the Monster network and lists jobs by country.
• Adecco Technical provides job listings in IT, medical, scientific, engineering, drafting, more.

Internships and volunteer opportunities

• Non-Study International Work Opportunities is a very comprehensive list put together by the Center for International Education at the University of California, Irvine.
• Idealist.org is a great database of jobs in non-profit organizations world-wide. Includes internships and volunteer opportunities.
• InternAbroad.com includes volunteer and internship opportunities as well as travel guides, hostel accommodations, and study abroad opportunities.
• Transitions Abroad: International Internships offers advice, information and a directory of organizations offering internships.
• The U.S. Peace Corps has had more than 182,000 Peace Corps Volunteers invited by 138 host countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education, information technology, and environmental preservation.

Canadian job resources

• CanadaWorkPermit.com provides information for those wishing to obtain work permits for Canada. Register to participate in their free forums or apply for a free assessment of your eligibility to obtain a temporary work visa.
• CanadianCareers.com provides Canadian jobs and career information about a variety of careers with links to resources and job listings. Check News and Events page for upcoming career fairs and internship deadlines.
• Canadian Government Jobs offers search tools for government jobs by category or geography.
• Career Owl is a site started by University professors, that markets to employers wanting in-depth profiles and high quality candidates. Search for jobs and post your resume.
• Charity Village is a Canadian site for nonprofit jobs.
• Employment News is the online version of a free jobs newspaper in Ontario. In addition to jobs, you'll find job and resume tips, employer profiles, school profiles and news and events.
• Training & Careers provides career and job search assistance to Canadians. Recent immigrants can get help under the Citizenship and Immigration.
• Workopolis.com claims to be Canada's biggest job site with more than 31,000 jobs daily. A partnership of three Canadian media companies, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd. and Gesca Ltd.

Africa and Middle East job resources

Most jobs in Africa are still found through word-of-mouth and newspaper advertisements. There are a few web sites to also check:

• CareerMidEast.com provides jobs in the Middle East. Search for jobs and post your resume.
• Gulf Job Sites provides job postings for the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait and Oman. The site also provides useful tools and information (such as rankings of top companies).
• Careers in Africa is a Global Career Company recruitment site connecting candidates with jobs in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
• Ghanna Web is a site posting jobs in Ghanna.
• BestJobsKenya provides a modest number of job postings plus research information about companies in Kenya.
• Ananzi.co.za Employment Pages is a directory of all things South African, provides a directory of links to South African job sites and recruiters.
• Ugandajobline.com provides job openings in Uganda.

Asia job resources

JobsDB.com This site claims to be Asia Pacific's leading interactive recruitment network. They have jobs posted in Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, and more.

China/Hong Kong/Taiwan

• If you speak and read Chinese, try Google's China site and/or Yahoo's China site first to locate jobs.
• South China Post Classifieds provides Hong Kong job classifieds.
• ESL Jobs in China offers jobs teaching English in China. 

India

• CareerIndia.com has job listings, mostly in IT. Click on "Answers" for immigration, residency and visitor information.
• DevSeeker is an Indian jobs portal for IT jobs.
• JobsAhead is a career portal which claims over 100,000 jobs openings from over 1000 companies. Includes a resume manager and job alerts and a directory of recruitment agencies in India.
• Naukri claims to be India's Number 1 job site. Many job listings in all fields.

Japan

• CareerCross is in Japanese and English (click on the "English" button, top right) and provides jobs, recruiters, and other career information.
• Daijob.com targets recruitment for foreign-affiliated companies in Japan.
• Jobseekjapan.com mostly focuses on IT and teaching positions for foreigners.
• Rikunabi.com is a popular site for entry level positions with many openings, this specifically serves non-Japanese looking for employment in Japan.

Australia/New Zealand job resources

• Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs allows you to check immigration requirements and determine the feasibility of visa sponsorship.
• Australian Job Search is a service of the Australian Government, this site offers job listings and career advice.
• CareerOne provides online job listings, resume posting and career advice.
• JobsDB.com claims to be Asia Pacific's leading interactive recruitment network. They have jobs posted in Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, and more.
• MyCareer provides job listings, resume manager, job alerts, resume examples and other resources.
• NowHiring.com provides online job search across Australia.
• Seek.com has over 100,000 job listings online.
• SynchronicityOne is a commercial company which represents IT professionals who wish to migrate to Australia.
• WorkingIn - Australia offers job listings and advice on moving to and living in Australia.
• WorkingIn - New Zealand provides job listings and advice on moving to and living in New Zeland.

Ajilon/Adecco Group of staffing and employment agencies

• Adecco Employment is Australia's leading staffing agency.
• Icon Recruitment is a recruiter specializing in IT careers.

Europe job resources

Europe is very diverse and each country has many job sites. Of necessity, we only list a few countries and a few job boards. For more complete listings, please check under "International Job Board Directories" above.

• English Language Jobs is devoted to English speaking persons (native or fluent) seeking a job in Europe.
• EURES is provided in 20 different languages with job listings in 23 countries, this online database offers close to a million job openings, plus information about living and working in each country.
• iAgora.com provides information about working, studying and living in Europe. Site available in Spanish, French, German, Italian and English. It provides a directory of jobs, internships and study opportunities, also housing and hotels.

France

• Apec.fr provides over 10,000 job listings from 80 major print sources. (French)
• Cadremploi.fr was created by a consortium of French recruiting agencies to publish their available positions. (French)
• CadresOnline.com provides 10,000 job openings in 60 sectors, CadresOnline.com is one of the biggest online job resources in France. (French)
• Le Rucher offers extensive job listings and a large internship database, searchable regionally or nationally. Also offers CV/Resume posting. (French)
• Michael Page is one of the leading employment services in France and provides wages according to the function and station. (French)
• Wanajob is one of the more recently launched French job board sites, there are over 20,000 jobs listed in Paris alone. (French)

Germany

• Zeit Online provides jobs from the German newspaper Die Zeit. Select the Job Turbo button to search other job sites and newspapers. (German)
• JobRobot is a spider that searches 70 online job boards hosting more than 200,000 open positions. (German)
• Job Safari provides over 70,000 jobs in Germany. Click on Detailsuche to search by job category, region or keyword. (German)
• Junge Karriere offers salary statistics (Gehaltsgrafiken) which show salaries of approximately 50 positions. Junge Karriere is a German journal which targets young professionals. (German)

The Netherlands

• Vacature.com - Talent Online provides job listings, salary comparisons, and career advice. (Dutch)
• Intermediair.nl provides job listings, CV (curriculum vitae) help, salary comparisons, and more. (Dutch)

Spain

• Infojobs.net is the most popular online job site in Spain, with more than 20,,000 job vacancies. (Spanish)
• Infoempleo.com provides over 10,000 job postings and information about training and career news and tips. Includes a job alert and CV posting. (Spanish)
• Laboris.net is an online job board that can be searched by province, industry and keywords. (Spanish, English and French)
• Michael Page provides search for jobs by profession, sector, or location. Post your CV. (Spanish)

Sweden

• Indeed is considered one of the top job boards in Sweden. (Swedish)
• Swedish Employment Service is the web site of the Swedish National Labour Market Administration (AMS). (Swedish)
• Workshopping is a useful central jobs portal for jobs in Sweden and across Europe. It includes links to all the major Internet job boards in Sweden. (Swedish)

United Kingdom (England)

• Fish4Jobs is the winner of a National Online Recruitment Award, and has close to 20,000 jobs listed.
• JobServe provides over 10,000 jobs in the UK and also throughout the world.
• JobSite offers extensive job listings, CV upload area, tips and advice.
• TotalJobs.com provides tens of thousands of jobs from almost 3000 companies across the United Kingdom.

Latin America job resources

• Bolsa de Trabajo lists world-wide job opportunities for Spanish-speaking professionals. Offerings are not limited to countries where Spanish is the primary language.
• Bumeran.com provides jobs in Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brasil, Venezuela and International. The site is in Spanish, except for Brasil which is in Portuguese. Resumes can also be posted on the sites.
• CompuTrabajo.com offers computing and IT related jobs in 20 Latin American countries. Click on the national flag to access the site for that country.
• Electronic Network for Latin American Careers and Employment (E.N.L.A.C.E.) is a resource from the University of Texas that allows you to post your resume or search job listings for U.S.-based and International positions.
• ltj.com Latin American Jobs is offered in English, Spanish and Portuguese, this site lists job openings, and also company news and lists of institutions of higher learning. Free registration is required to view jobs.
• LatPro.com lists jobs in the USA and in Latin America. Click the advanced search link to search Latin American countries. The site is available in Spanish and Portuguese as well as English.
• Zonajobs.com lists jobs in Argentina, Peru, Columbia, Mexico, Chile and Brazil.

 Argentina

• JobRapido.com is a good comprehensive site for jobs in Argentina.

Brasil

• Catho.com has many job listings throughout Brasil.

Mexico

• United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce has a membership directory, available for a fee and provides a listing of U.S. multinationals doing business in Mexico.
• OCC Mundial lists many jobs throughout Mexico. Search by region, city, state, or profession. Also lists a limited number of jobs in the rest of the world.
• Adecco Mexico provides search for jobs throughout Mexico.

Venezuela

• ClasificadosElUniversal.com is the online classified jobs section of El Universal newspaper. (Spanish)
