Though this seems like a stupid idea at first this strategy is actually really smart when dealing with island based warfare. Honestly we may see a day were tanks are only deployed on our homeland when enemies are invading.

Tanks are a very effective tool, when used properly. To be honest, tanks haven't done as much damage as any human has. People themselves have done more damage than a tank.

Honestly even though that is a fact, the mixture of vehicular, arial, and on the ground warfare is what makes a good army.

True, I just think if anyone spent more resources on defense and aerial combat said person could be untouchable.

They mention and talk about the pacific theater but I don't think the same would really apply to the european theater. 

Tanks are strategic moving encampments really. The modern tanks are insane and its proving its effectiveness all the time even in the ongoing Ukraine war (though there are supply challenges) movement and applicability is definitely different in the chain of islands. Especially when it comes to pricing as well in a more economically challenging world.
