  1. A longstanding question that is a little open ended and non-ONI like to ask has always been who should we align with in the communities all around Halo. Partnerships typically begin as friendships to mutual benefit and usually is very natural however as the playground gets bigger there are a few friends we don't get to meet on our side of the sandbox. So I am curious if there is any other favorite communities people have that we could partner, play some games with and organize events together!
  2. I came across a new search engine but have never heard of. Curious if anyone else has ever heard about it. Ecosia is a search engine based in Berlin, Germany. Ecosia considers itself a social business, claiming to be CO₂-negative, supporting full financial transparency, and protecting the privacy of its users. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecosia ]
  3. I don't enjoy buying items in games I don't play or that die, so I take that into account when doing so. The last item I ironically bought is the Combat Evolved armor set in Halo Infinite, but its worse that I don't ever actually put that armor on and really don't care so much for any of the armors recently (I definitely should though.) I kind of like it, don't regret it at all.
  4. This harkens back to how leaks are used in the community, for Mint Blitz who gets paid from the attention and egagement leaks are beneficial to him because there is money involved behind it. The intention of course he will never admit to as its morally wrong but its the attention to it especially in times with little or nothing to upload.
  5. An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan (you can think of prefecture is like a state.) I am alive and well and thought to say something as a few have asked regarding the earthquake in Japan however many households in Ishikawa remain without water or electricity and more than 30,000 people are in evacuation centers after this event. Some roads have been cut, obstructing delivery of relief supplies. Intensity 6+ and 6- in many municipalities in the Noto Peninsula. Also, a tsunami of up to 1.2 m was observed. The earthquake caused many deaths, injuries, collapsed houses, spreading fires and landslides. Recovery is only just begun but the carnage is definitely to be remembered for years on.

  8. On this day Halo: Epitaph is an released by long-time series writer, Kelly Gay. l feature the continuation of the story of the Ur-Didact and is set after Halo: Escalation's The Next 72 Hours arc from 2013 during which he is composed following a conflict with John-117 and the rest of Blue Team.
  9. Going to set this to end after this year. Its just a little too far out unrelated to Halo @VADM A Reaves but good to know.
  10. On this day Halo: The Rubicon Protocol by Kelly Gay released, following surviving members of the United Nations Space Command as they mount a resistance against the Banished following their ambush by them in late 2559.
  11. Yeah I definitely have been lacking a more consistent workout schedule. Its tough, I was doing calisthenics for 6 months, got to where I want to be but kind of got busy with upskilling at work and as a car content creator too. For me this 2024 I really want to build systems and workflows for myself. I need to leverage what I have already like the calendar app on my phone, reminder app and being good about time management. I think I'll make it my goal to buy a car I've been looking for for-over a year. I was first interested in a house but I could write the longest thread on the current housing economics both in the US, Japan and globally.
  12. I have always been on the fence about datamining because it becomes a means of content than it does any actual value to us, you or the community overall. Like many great things people pick and choose what to share but always look to share with the motive to grow their own following, monetize engagement or in some cases I've seen put themselves on a pedestal above others. Leaks play all kinds of parts and is impart itself usually datamining. Let's not talking about datamining though (or least I'll stop at that) and more of the after effects. Leaks are good for Building more anticipation for a game, mode or new equipment No one could argue, its exciting to see some of the things to come to any game. When the Pelican was leaked as a Forge item in Halo Infinite I was pretty ecstatic about it. Showing development progress and holding developers accountable Where a few studios lack in communications leaks tend to solve for that, though the accountability part can be overbearing so long as its with good intentions discussing content before its available typically isn't a negative. Early feedback There was 2 leaks I can think of that came straight from 343 Industries and partners. I would deduce this is for feedback and review from select group of people like the HCS pros on game modes or forge council for maps. In such circumstance leaks have value as the information is disseminated. Leaks are bad for Compromising the studios projects Not everything is ready for public eyes and viewing, in this its an invasion of intellectual privacy. A good example is the Falcon which was leaked but no where near ready so was ostracized and criticized as "horrible looking" when it was low poly. Builds expectations that are often not met Every community has a problem with tempering expectations. It is often with leaks that more is expected than what actually comes into the game. Teams might practice on maps that are leaked to be in HCS only to find out on release it is a different map entirely or practiced strategies do not work. Influencers use leaks to posture, grow audience or create narratives This would be a good thing but most do not posture in favor of 343 Industries and instead use leaks to grow their audience for engagement, impressions and monetization. There is quite a bit of drama involved in this space and the root of it really is the idea that a few people watermark leaked images with their alias, moniker or a discord invite link. Intellectual property theft Many might disagree with me here and it might read as something more serious than it is but using assets from games for Blender art or other 3D media and charging commission is a form of digital theft. From just assets this expands into the actual act of datamining that is typically in fine print on one of the terms of services documents you agree knowingly or unknowingly to follow. Overall Leaks are bad and carry a negative connotation regardless of the good that comes from them. Its best to on a personal basis to only explore where and what you want to know and avoid anything that is watermarked.
  13. Going to be disabling this into the next year, no more free credits for me or cheat posts using APIs and other technologies I guess
  14. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I will likely follow with a more broad audience announcement for ONI to detail more about future plans and so on but I just wanted to personally thank anyone and everyone who keeps us and this site on their minds to visit, chat or even lurk around.
  15. It’s tough because Minecraft is a huge community, likely x250 of Halo’s population (probably more) so the swaying outliers and even social media presence of those that do voice toxicity are far more than those that aren’t. In Halo all it took was a vocal minority on social media to blanket over any positive voices, this same vocal minority: the social media influencers had this power to really control what people thought of the game and still do today. You can still go back and see even in just the thumbnails the kind of rage baiting that existed before, that truly still exists because of the modern algorithms today. By design content that engages you is pushed to you and this is more often than not things that make you sad, mad or just stupid enough for you to respond and again engage. It’s a harsh reality of marketing hell we are in to both have this and the social media influencers pedaling the system for profit but that conversation really should be a thread in itself. I don’t know too much of the frustration around Minecraft, admittingly I am not watching the video since I am kind of on the go right now checking the forums but I can guess that Mojang as a developer really sold out to Microsoft and fans are unhappy about the changes being made by Microsoft. It’s a little upsetting but the same applies and more for Minecraft who sees another x500 content creators than Halo who probably all help each other ride this wave by creating similar content for viewers to keep watching. Where Minecraft undoubtedly has issues I don’t put it past them to answer and be involved in the community as they used to be. Of course it’s really up to them, Minecraft isn’t a game in any danger by anyone’s standards as a bought out Microsoft company now they already won that battle and anything thereafter is a blessing before the sunset.

  17. [ https://navi.gg/en/publications/halo-navi-roster-closes ] Natus Vincere was never really a favorite of mine but they held true and had a competitive roster in the EU. Sadly with little support, popularity and the signed players not building their own audience it seems that NaVi didn't want to continue investing in Halo. This opens up a spot for partnership with HCS in Europe and with Fnatic before, now NaVi the future of that is sure to be discussed in meeting rooms with Tashi before -more likely after- the holidays.
  18. This is a very interesting proposition that I am sure we will see and hear more of into the future. Would you pay to watch Esports? Would you pay to watch Halo?
  19. Haha! Yes of course, I am always looking for ANYONE & EVERYONE, there is no large list of people or overabundance of skills or anything. This forums huge, we did pass 800 members but do not be fooled, help is needed and any help is greatly appreciated.
  20. Got you, just fixed it. Was missing an 'i' in the domain name and the second one added http's' even though it doesn't have SSL, HTTPS:// protection. The site is a flat blog anyway with links to other Halo complaints and arguments that follow. Little value, might repost some of the blogs contents here just for a good discussion.
  21. I have been building computers for a little while now and with friends doing it for fun or for others. I am considering making some ONI builds now talking about PC cases and building it in a few other threads. Would anyone be interested though? It is likely I will aim for PC specs to play Halo Infinite at the highest settings, or The Master Chief Collection with mods (VRAM & DDR5 6000+ headroom) it will likely not be so cheap though. Laser etching the logo and maybe personalizing it by gamer tag would be some options I can do. Let me know in the replies if this sounds cool.
  22. Yes you could! Printing anything on this would make it automatically UNSC. I would even settle for an all black one with a ONI logo but even the details of the buttons on the military green case is great.
  23. As I mentioned very briefly before in my post about the future of Halo into 2024, Support positive criticism and feedback, be attentive and try not to engage in silly stuff like #fire343 or stupid clickbait "ragebaiting" that creators do. If you didn't read this post I highly recommend it as both the original author but a fan of Halo. Now, as the Twitter 'X' sphere goes a little cold a hashtag and conversation that started from Evolved117 is worth book keeping here as something we discussed or just had a general thought on. As forums offer a more conducive environment for in-depth discussions and community interaction compared to Twitter. Allowing for longer-form content, enabling users to explore topics comprehensively without the character limitations of tweets. #Fire343 stood out to me as the community quickly rallied behind and the algorithms pushed engaging content. Forums foster organized conversations, making it easier to follow and contribute to ongoing debates but it is unlikely anyone who agreed with the hashtag will sit down to discuss why and how they thought that was okay. Unlike the rapid and often fleeting nature of tweets, forum posts have a lasting presence, providing a valuable resource for future reference and because of that I also think its easier to build a solution to this problem and essentially help people get over the challenges they personally faced with 343 Industries. In short, Evolved117 took the opportunity and advantage of the ragebaiting around Halo to create a trending hashtag. This may just be his sole achievement around Halo but I digress as like Hailey Eira I do not know this actor. Where Evolved117 is different is the outright call to action threatening 343 Industries employees to destroy their livelihoods and jobs. To some affect it may have had a part in the cost reduction efforts of 343 Industries, Xbox Game Studios and the Xbox business unit of Microsoft overall. This is something to explore if true or by coincidence. Calling on the gaming studio to be "fired" or dissolved would virtually mean the end of the IP as we know it. There is no benefit and often fans have no idea what a corporate environment looks like to know exactly what they mean. So with that I share this topic today curious if anyone has something to add or thoughts on the hashtag and evolved117. What does it mean to you? What could that mean for Halo? What sort of justification even exists to threaten the jobs of others?
  24. As I keep a eye on Twitter for news around Halo every now and then a prominent actor on Twitter or 'X' has a promoted Tweet that is pushed through the algorithms. As many may not know, Tweets can now earn you money especially dependent on how many verified accounts interact with it. When platforms prioritize metrics like clicks, likes, or shares, it can incentivize content that is sensational, polarizing, or designed for quick consumption. This emphasis on engagement metrics may discourage nuanced and thoughtful discourse, as participants may prioritize attention-grabbing statements over in-depth exploration of complex topics. Additionally, the pressure to generate high levels of engagement can contribute to the spread of misinformation, clickbait, and echo chamber dynamics, ultimately compromising the integrity and substance of meaningful conversations. In this is @Haileyeira the owner of her self titled site and savehalo.com https://haileyeira.com http://savehalo.com Interesting sites combined with X to make for a very interesting character. Where I don't want to give more attention to actors that do not help build community I think its important to know your neighbor and as the actor continues to be active it will help others find who to avoid, how to counteract and or retain the voices to an echo chamber. In more than one occasion Hailey Eira has insulted 343 Industries and employees but more interestingly praised Bungie touting a personal relationship with developers and studio executives. As we discuss all things Halo I wanted to put this topic out there for ourselves and others interested. Because I actually do not know this person, despite having followed each other briefly (we unfollowed each other over disagreements) and sharing messages, discussing what Halo in Japanese market is like -- I know nothing about Hailey and cannot share anything so look forward to this topic as I share it with others who may know.
  25. Yeah the 12v12 experience can be brutal especially since when you're in a vehicle it seems like you can get melted quite easily. I say this though and have seen Ghosts become real threats to a team and Warthogs too especially the Razorback when its full. To me the maps are the real problem but I think its subjective, I enjoy the original remake maps more than I do some of the newer maps. The networking update really needs to make its way into the regular game modes.
