  1. Where the internet is led by the predominant English language I find myself and experience time again watching other languages temper down and become obstacles for growth. Where this site is relatively new I want to introduce and add communities around Halo that might find value in some of the discussions around Halo that they would otherwise miss. These discussions include getting involved in the local language communities and building strong resilient groups around them. For me its important to foster and provide a platform to all Halo players and with this step forward I hope my small community here of a few posters can find and appreciate any alternative languages found in the forums. I have added all the languages supported in Halo and look forward to the conversations to be had. This will also mean a translator job may open and application may be used in the future to build more bridges between languages. English Spanish French German Italian Japanese Korean Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) Portuguese Russian In the heart of America beats a vibrant and diverse tapestry of cultures, beliefs, and identities. To be American is to be part of a rich mosaic where unity is found not in uniformity but in the celebration of differences. From coast to coast, individuals weave their stories into the grand narrative of the nation, contributing unique threads of heritage, language, and tradition. Embracing diversity is not just a choice; it is an intrinsic part of the American experience. It's a recognition that, in the fusion of backgrounds and perspectives, we find the strength to build a more inclusive and harmonious society, one that reflects the true spirit of the land of the free and the home of the brave.
  2. Man I have to admit I have no idea how this relates to the topic but the marketing for Halo 5: Guardians was very misleading to what actually happens in the game. I highly recommend playing it especially if you enjoy games like Star Wars Republic Commando and the squad system or Destiny for the overlays with weapons and jump height/armor abilities.
  3. I missed this one, doesn't seem real at all. With MW3 out now I can't imagine seeing it all that often.
  4. Is anyone playing Enlisted? Recently seeing ads on the game. I had thought it died and faded into the background of other shooters but it looks like fans of Call of Duty are finally leaving its community. The challenges with realism or repetitive gameplay is evident in most games but Call of Duty is apparently having a raging fanbase over it. I have also heard a swath of fans from Battlefield 2042 coming to add this game in on the seat time playing. I'm skeptical of Enlisted but would love to hear real reviews or opinions from people I know, here in ONI.
  5. New networking model was introduced and interestingly its been contained to just one playlist. So far I have had a great experience playing it, especially with my geographical disadvantages being in Japan. Shot registration has improved and I notice desync less especially at critical moments where it matters. The change itself is great and very welcomed quality of life update that I hope gets applied to the rest of the game. The Combat Workshop is your one-shop stop to check out work-in-progress maps, modes, and other new experiences. In this playlist you'll be able to enjoy a mix of Slayer and objective modes on fan-favorite maps while we gather feedback and data about the online experience. If you’ve already jumped in to play in the Workshop: Squad Battle Networking playlist, we want your feedback! START THE SURVEY

  7. I still haven't had a chance to sit down and play the game, heard its gotten better with updates since release.
  8. Worked, been kind of a mule lately. Taking 2 weeks off but also going to be away from my console and PC, hope everyone's able to take time off these holidays.
  9. I stopped watching forever ago, I need to catch up.
  10. I wouldn't put it past him to revisit again but as to when, who knows.
  11. Now, I want to preface that I will enjoy Halo for the foreseeable future and will likely continue to look for more ways to make this site and platform sustainable to keep it through the years as always. A little before Halo Infinite was introduced it was buzzing around the media that Halo Infinite would be the platform for Halo for the next 10 years. This is, that they will continue to update the game and manage the title for 10 years. Where this sounded great its come to a sad realization that it is likely no new Halo game will come in the form of a new multiplayer experience. Recent rumors have suggested that the next campaign will only be a campaign experience in the same engine and the multiplayer will be an expansion to the current experience. 343 Industries is nearly a 5th, or smaller in size to Activision, Sledgehammer and other studios behind the Call of Duty franchise yet it seems they intend to do the same exact thing that Call of Duty is doing right now. While this is all just rumors and whispers on the net there is a very real threat or suspicion to be less dramatic, that Halo is not the face of Xbox and is slowly being sunset. This 10 year plan by design is the sunset process, much like a performance improvement plan is to workers of a company. All this to really say that Halo Infinite does not have the future we might all be thinking it does and there are more rumors and signals of this being true in all the noise.
  12. This is a overstated, over posted thing all across the internet but as rebuilding my PC comes closer I am looking at cases *all kinds by the way* and in my age now there was one case I wasn't able to afford as a kid that I always remember to be just so cool and militaristic fitting to the theme all around of here, the UNSC and anything associated with the olive green color scheme. Corsair Vengeance C70 Military Green E – ATX Mid Tower PC I'll add photos later but highlighting and searching this should give you an image for it and its a beauty. I am more minimalist nowadays sticking to Fractal and NZXT but does anyone have a favorite case out there right now or a case you have already to share?
  13. Yeah we see it too often honestly in cutscenes and animations that it just makes sense to have a knife pick up. I can imagine though it would probably be stronger than a Plasma Pistol but weaker than a sword. The actual gameplay would have to vary in multiplayer.
  14. I realize there is not that many people who are building PCs but if anyone knows or has recommendations I've been thinking about building a fun ITX PC for probably production over gaming workflows. If anyone is familiar do drop some cases you might like or have built in. 15. The end has finally come to a 10 year old anime now. One that is easily one of the best in all of storytelling that exists right now. The end was very much a philosophical one as it is a character death and message to audience. What did you think of the show and how it ended?
  16. With the shows end, its definitely the sweeter shows. The kind of cliff hangar it left us with though was a gross miscalculation in storytelling. Like all mini-series it fails to wrap up many of the storylines existing and adds new ones. I think a Movie is a better format of story telling for what they tried to go with but its likely the show will see a 2nd season because the movie itself would have a hard time standing alone to fans that did not watch the Rebels cartoon series or this live action Ahsoka series.
  17. I have to ask here since I simply cannot find an answer anywhere else on the internet. What the hell is happening in Walking Dead, why are there so many spin off series that no one has been talking about and who thought it was a good idea to send Daryl Dixon to FRANCE?
  18. I don't remember if I mentioned anywhere else but they also laid off the original type font creator for Halo. The Halo font used now is a little bit different from before during Halo: CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 but it still has its place in Halo as an iconic art. While the specific details about the font creation process may not be publicly disclosed, but it's known that Bungie had a hand in designing the unique typography for the "Halo" series. Her name was Lorraine Mclees. She started at Bungie in 1999. Yes, 1999. She was part of the art team. She designed the Pillar of Autumn and the original Halo logo. In 2020, she was the art lead for Bungie's consumer products team. Here she is (briefly) in the Halo 2 Behind the Scenes documentary. She also voiced the dropship pilot in Halo 1's longest cutscene ("LZ looks clear! I'm bringing us down!").
  19. Me too, its nice to see a familiar equipment added back. It also has a little bit of a Halo Wars 2 touch to it. I think it'll play better than the original regenerator too especially with how vehicles take damage and the time to kill for everything.
  20. Over the years, Firefight has taken many forms across various Halo games. From its traditional survival mode in Halo 3: ODST to its more arcade-inspired incarnation in Halo: Reach, to Warzone Firefight in Halo 5, along with Blitz Firefight and Terminus Firefight in Halo Wars 2—it's a mode that has evolved across games, and the time has come for it to arrive in Halo Infinite. Firefight: King of the Hill will see you and three other players facing off against waves of Banished baddies as you fight to capture hills on nine maps when the playlist goes live—including the House of Reckoning from Halo Infinite’s campaign and three community-made maps. Where there is a potential here I cannot help but comment how late we are in the games lifecycle. We all knew that the House of Reckoning map was going to be added into Infinite but the timeline even for us was hazy.
  21. REPAIR FIELD Need to conduct some repairs while out in the field? We've got the perfect Equipment item for you... Introducing the latest sandbox addition to Halo Infinite, the Repair Field! Similar to the Regenerator from Halo 3, the Repair Field is a neutral piece of Equipment that heals allies and enemies within its radius. It's also capable of repairing vehicles, and it can be attached to them (as well as most environmental surfaces). Additionally, the Repair Field can also revive downed Spartans in select modes such as Firefight: King of the Hill, Attrition, etc. Are you the kind of player that prefers to provide support for the team? The Repair Field is a great complement to that particular playstyle and, used strategically, just might help give your team an edge in a firefight or vehicular showdown.
  22. Rank Demotion Protection and Ranked Quit Penalty Adjustments. Let’s dive into the details and talk about how it’ll work! Ranked Demotion Protection: You just leveled up from Gold into Platinum – nice work, that wasn’t easy. Unfortunately, in your next game you didn’t play too hot, or maybe you got a phone call and were distracted, or maybe one of your teammates quit – welp, back to Gold you go. Well, not anymore with the introduction of Rank Demotion Protection. Whenever you rank up into a new division (Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Onyx) you will get a grace period of three games, win or lose, as a bit of safety net and you won’t get demoted into the prior division. Example scenario: You level up into Onyx and your CSR is 1503. If you lose a game, disconnect, or quit – your new CSR will be 1500 which will keep you in Onyx. If the same thing happens two more times, you will stay 1500. Winning a game will count as one of the three protection games – it’s not 3 losses, it’s 3 games no matter what happens. Ranked Quit Penalty Adjustments: So, you’re in the middle of a game and someone on your team just quit – great, now you’ve got no real shot of winning and you’re just going to lose points anyway for quitting. Well, that’s going to change as well. If someone in your game but not on your fireteam quits, they will still receive the max penalty, but you will not lose any CSR. Ok very cool but we’ve got some questions, Tashi: If someone on the other team quits, can I quit with no penalty? Yes! If someone on my fireteam quits, and then I quit, what’s the penalty? You will lose up to 5 CSR, just like it is today. If someone not on my fireteam quits, but we stay and lose the game, how much CSR would I lose? 0 CSR. Ranked games are not meant to be played out with uneven teams – players should be able to leave with no penalty and just start searching again for another match. What happens if a teammate quits/crashes while loading in? The first quit after the match starts will still receive a full penalty, but after that all players will be able to leave without any penalty. If someone in my game quits, and then I decide to quit for no penalty, will I still get hit with the banhammer? No. Quitting in these instances is safe from the banhammer. RANKED EXTRACTION UPDATES Based on feedback we’ve heard from players we’ve also made a couple key updates to Ranked Extraction (you will NOT see these updates in the Extraction featured in social playlists). Audio changes: At the moment, you can hear that your Extraction point is being converted by the enemy team from anywhere on the map. This meant players were able to leave the area around the Extraction device and use the global audio queue to tell them when to peek back out. With this upcoming audio change, the device itself will emit the audio - meaning you'll have to be in a close vicinity to hear it's being converted. As a result, teams will need to play closer attention the Extraction device much more than they need to today. UI changes: Right now, you can see in your UI when the Extraction point is being converted. Similar to above, this allowed players to leave the area near the Extraction device and only peek out when the UI showed it was being converted. With our upcoming change, this will go away almost entirely. The UI will no longer indicate to you when the Extraction point is actively being converted, and it will also no longer indicate to you how much time is remaining. It's going to play a bit old school and hardcore, as players/coaches will be needing to time the Extractions like timing weapons/powerups in the older Halo titles. We hope these quality-of-life updates make your ranked experience more enjoyable and best of luck on your grind to the top. See you online! -Tashi [ https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/december-ranked-updates ]
  23. As someone whose had the luxury of working from home I had enjoyed this privilege maybe a little too much from a little before COVID-19 Pandemic to now. Along with colleagues across the IT sector from companies like Google or Amazon, we are being asked to return to office with a few exceptions being that a promotion or other accolades may be withheld if we didn't show our faces and build a stronger presence in the office. Its shaken me a bit to have to return at least 3 days of the week to the point I considered looking for a new job, to find out that the entire industry is really forcing its workforce back to the office. Which brings me to the question, who else might be working remotely right now? Are you being asked back into the office?
