  1. All of the changes are live! I ended up changing way more than I communicated, I hope the surprise is received well. Our Physical Store I will keep for December to support the site as well but may close until next holiday season so grab your ONI gear before it heads out https://store.lysithea.ai!
  2. I appreciate that, I will accept any and all praise. While I have since divested time away from clans, I know of a few seniors that may still be around to also discuss clans to this depth. I can only wish they were here since most take a personal bias or misunderstand completely what ONI or this website is about. I will keep trying to invite some old leaders apart of other clans or experiences, sometime I do want to sit down and interview people about there clans and this topic is a good hook for many having living through it and still seeing more potential. There are a few threads around the forum that are actually reposts of Glatix and other very good essayists so I cannot take credit for every analysis you might have read. My older posts are unreadable too, I can only thank others for the feedback before, I actually hate to type walls of texts but at one point that's what being an officer was all about in ONI Should that ease of comfort and access to more games be negative or a positive thing for Halo clans? I know some clans play Minecraft or GTA Online together, Read Dead Online was sorta popular here alongside many other games but I don't hear about it at all anymore. Being from a community yourself I imagine its a common thing, do you play any PC exclusive titles with your clanmates? I'm actually baffled that the Switch was released in 2016, I have 2 in the house only because they made the Animal Crossing one and my girlfriend really wanted it. That entire time during COVID was a fever dream of Animal Crossing and I cannot imagine any other game really rewrite that file in my memories.

  4. Hey all, its been a while since I have been able to sit down and give an update. My personal life has been busier as the holidays come and I meet some of my own financial goals budgeting for a new car. As you may know, right now we have subscription plans that are directly connected to a PayPal account used to pay for this sites hosting, software used and development. Its no secret that this is not a popular site at all but we do have a community here and its worth it to me to keep the lights on for the indefinite future. That's what the subscription plans are all about Keeping the lights on Because of this I have had to cut back on some of the benefits and merit to the higher tiers because we are not able to deliver them, some of it are based on relationships with Etsy stores that we have discovered to be inconsistent with orders, failing to communicate or deliver in a timely manner. Unfortunately I don't have a 3D printer to create cool stuff myself and just can't promise a high quality experience with the variables between Etsy shop owners despite giving them good business. Effective immediately all the following are unavailable across all tiers. 3D Printed Halo Collectible A ONI themed Name Plaque Hand-Painted Halo AI Data Chip M6D Magnum Replica Prop
  5. In hindsight the numbers were insane for Halo Infinite. Can you imagine a retained population of 20 million online?
  6. If you told me where would I see this game 22 years later I would have never thought it be on PC included in the Master Chief Collection with its spirit and armor set available in Halo Infinite, much less mods of entire campaign levels remade and reintroduced to the PC community. A core memory of the game I never had; Shawn, a twelve-year-old with eyes aglow, sat perched on the edge of his bed, controller in hand, immersed in the world of Halo: Combat Evolved. The soft glow of the TV screen cast a warm ambiance in his room as he navigated the enigmatic landscapes of Alpha Halo. His excitement palpable, Shawn's fingers danced across the controller, fully engrossed in the adventure. Seated nearby, his best friend, Mike, watched with equal fascination. The duo had been waiting for this gaming night for weeks, and Halo was proving to be everything they hoped for and more. As they ventured through the campaign, Shawn's jaw dropped at the breathtaking graphics and the captivating storyline. The hauntingly beautiful soundtrack added another layer to the experience. Mike, sharing in the enthusiasm, offered occasional words of encouragement, their excitement bouncing off the walls. The pivotal moment arrived when they uncovered the entrance to the Silent Cartographer. Shawn felt a surge of anticipation as the colossal structure came into view. The unfolding story, with Cortana's holographic interface revealing the mysteries of the Halo rings, held Shawn in rapt attention. Wide-eyed, Shawn turned to Mike, "Dude, did you have any idea about this part? It's like a movie or something!" Mike grinned, "Right? Keep playing, it gets even better." Guiding Master Chief through the Silent Cartographer, Shawn felt a sense of discovery and wonder. The revelation of the ancient race, the Precursors, and the significance of the Halo rings left an indelible mark on his young gaming heart. It wasn't just a game; it was a journey, and the Silent Cartographer became Shawn's secret passage into the vast universe of Halo. Years later, whenever the familiar strains of the Halo soundtrack reached his ears or he caught a glimpse of Master Chief's iconic green armor, Shawn would fondly reminisce about that night in his bedroom—the night he unraveled the secrets of the Silent Cartographer and fell in love with the expansive world of Halo: Combat Evolved.
  7. I haven't but some of my friends have returned to gaming and its been exciting to see so many back to play together.
  8. Caved in and bought the game, its campaign so far is very unsurprising. I am ashamed of the purchase but I feel this will likely be the last game I buy from Call of Duty. Its just too much trying to keep up with all of the games updates and how large and complicated these games are getting. This game like others released recently is poorly optimized for my current computer build too.
  9. It probably took me about 3-6 months, of consistently playing and playing against better players to start competing when back in Halo: Reach. With how accessible playing pros are in Halo Infinite I can imagine its faster than 3-6 months and can be done in 3 if shot skills are already there. In Halo (the game this site is mostly based around) the skill level competitively becomes more about how communication is shared between teammates and pushes in the game. At the highest skill level every ones accuracy staves off and it really becomes more about awareness and how well you play with a team.
  10. These are automated messages, I may give or allow for it to come from a different account though. I don't know if I can get any volunteers from staff, or possible a bot account!
  11. I think the game might continue to miss marks but the intent to do good is very much there. There is little to do as a fan than being vocal and supporting the game. Following Unyshek and responses I think its been a great way to stay positive and active with the community that they intend to curate to. I am not really waiting for anything in particular for the game, I just need to find more reasons to play it though and the rotational playlist doesn't really keep me on the game or the current quality of life updates. I hope they can create a solution that works for a player like me but also everyone else. The Bandit Evo is fun and refreshing, I haven't played a AI experience from Forge yet or had the chance to try it myself but I cannot wait to and where the tuning isn't being adjusted for better matches I really don't mind losing so often as long as I can find games to play. Not many might remember but the previous title didn't feel complete until Year 2, so this birthday is a achievement in stone to where the game is and how it compares to other launches so far in a way more competitive first person arena shooter market.
  12. This is something I didn't think I would see or read about but is sure to shutter all the doors of every org. Optic Gaming and the Greenwall lost a very valuable asset to them and the business acumen of aPG is sure to find a competitive option for him in this new storm. I was always under the impression that organizations were experiencing this economic downturn and this was the time to revise salary expectations and contracts. It is likely this is what happened and not the former of his team letting him go as Brad reaches new heights in financial success.
  13. This is a wicked event if any, that one of the youngest talents of previous Halo titles that rose with a tide of amateur players back in Halo 5: Guardians is returning to Halo. Neptune is actually someone we know here at ONI and its exciting following his gaming career from whom we knew as Ghost of November. Neptune's past is all but buried in his mountain of achievements in Call of Duty as a pro salaried player, but this turn to Halo may be a good indicator that salaries and pay are high and competitive in the Halo esports scene to Call of Duty's. Where Call of Duty's future is uncertain in Microsoft's merger-acquisition Halo is now promising for Neptune enough to announce before Season 3 that he was going to play. I hope to see success in Neptune's future and hopefully a better gamer tag then the one he has now. For anyone who doesn't know or remember Neptune. His skill level is high enough to compete in the top 8 before, having joined the competitive Halo scene with Bound, Renegade, Shotzzy, Eco, Pznguin, Stellar, Lucid and Trippy. Neptune's career began in mid-2017, playing for Team CryptiK alongside Scaryotic, Camper, and Sabinater in the Pro League LCQ. In October, Neptune joined eRa Eternity alongside Cratos, Musa, and Str8 SicK. At DreamHack Denver, eRa finished in the top sixteen. Going into Halo World Championship 2018 season, the young Neptune was recruited by veteran trio Ace, Lunchbox, and aPG. Initially playing as Instinct, the team was signed by Renegades in time for MLG Orlando, where they finished in the top six after losses to OpTic Gaming and Team Reciprocity. The fifth seeded Renegades were able to qualify for Worlds out of pool play at MLG Columbus. They finished in the top six after 3-0 losses to Team Reciprocity and Team EnVyUs. At Worlds, Renegades finished second in their pool, losing 3-1 to TOX Gaming. In the first round of bracket play, Renegades were narrowly defeated by Team EnVyUs 4-3. They went down to the losers bracket where they took out Team Infused 4-1 before being swept by Team Reciprocity and sent home with a top six finish. Since his top six finish in 2018, he went on to compete in Call of Duty joining teams like the Florida Mutineers, New York Subliners and Los Angeles Guerillas winning and making more money than he ever would in Halo.
  14. Inviting a conversation, a deep one at that. Being in clans for 10+ years I think the introduction of PC players expanded the population a fair bit and made clans that much more accessible. With communication tools like Discord its made it prolific, we can chat on the go mobile while playing on console or now have PC players involved with the PC client. Its unified that space in many ways. PC players were really introduced with the Master Chief Collection and the return of Halo: Reach added to it, collectively the game was republished on PC and it became vibrant for the first few months in September 2019. I remember this very clearly because we had started this site in hopes of gaining popularity and growing with the PC community being a more accessible site for PC players. This didn't go as intended though because gaming culture had changed, many on console would collect in Xbox Party chat over Discord voice channels and the Xbox game bar that included Xbox Party chat would fail from time to time. For me the pros and cons are as follows. PROS More people playing Halo and finding players to play altogether, the population in both Halo: Reach and Halo Infinite invited PC players and for Infinite it peaked at launch around 250,000+ players More mature background of players and members to recruit and join clans, PC players tend to be older because PC isn't as accessible as console is as a entertainment device More multi-talent brought into clans, only a few clans had a graphic designer or blender based artwork to support 'propaganda' up until PC players joined now many do CONS Cheating became more rampant, a Easy Anti-cheat Bypass program is easy to run on your PC as you play. The ability to cheat went unpunished by 343 Industries. Aim Assist and Mouse/Keyboard tuning, this is something still being worked on but many were frustrated about this problem and left to never come back Mods are only available to PC players, alongside this only up until recently could you cross play Campaign for a shared experience PC players have more options to find each other and play together, where many might see this as a 'Pro' it eliminated the need for a clan The overall impact was neutral in my observation. Ultimately the games short comings became the real challenge in cross play over any actual meta-gaming did with clans. The networking problems like desync or long search times with wide variety of skills did no favor to the introduction of PC into the clan community. I've seen positive things come in the form of a greater audience and more exposure for clans, forgers on PC did wonders in Halo 5: Forge a PC port of Halo 5: Guardians and continued to do awesome work in Halo Infinite for clans. I have also seen negative things, where clans harbored cheaters and would schedule matches against other clans knowingly pitting cheaters against them for easy wins. Denial of service attacks were also a thing, as it always was. I never saw a clan or community really capitalize on the cross platform and inclusion of PC, I expect the potential is still unrealized but I believe that Halo really is influenced by its competitive scene and so all of HCS is played on high-end PCs with 96% of the pro players using controllers. That is likely the future of Halo on PC for even the casual base so clans will only be able to support one or the other and on the basis of depth in how it is organized. Clans for example that included a jump course as a form of initiation have a hard time finding PC players where controls are a little different movement is a challenge. Aiming with a mouse however is infinitely better than a controller and so clans that focus on SWAT or Tactical game modes might value and be home to more PC players. The ideal balance of what to have in your clan or community has simply expanded to also allow these new 'markets' as updates come to perfect the relationship. Because of my role and really drive for a successful role playing based clan which relied on the game itself, PC also introduced competition in other games that are better for story telling and role playing overall. Arma 3 and the Halo mod Operation: Trebuchet became a go-to for many that went from console to PC and Garry's Mod, a open sandbox style game where Halo assets can be loaded up into it. These games had role playing communities before and while they never encroached on Halo Infinite they did provide an avenue away from the main title games for role players and serious members who enjoyed that form of entertainment. In many ways this took away from the introduction of PC players but I didn't include this in my argument for neutrality, as its a personal choice to pursue and something not related to Halo Infinite.
  15. Yeah come to think of it that's a totally different way of looking at it than I thought of. I typically only play one or two of the beginning free champions because I don't know how to play any other. In that way I am siloed and not necessarily learning more about the game because it took so much time to learn how to play just average with those legends. They also change the maps frequently, I don't ever really know what's going on when I play. I just fill a support role with my friends and try not to push before they do.
  16. No good solution to that, I think the open door policy is great and a candid culture of reviewing and discussing issues through to solution. Not many are mature enough to foster than kind of environment, I don't think ONI would win in that regard or even build a good solution to it. Many members here are not as forthcoming, but direction and leadership as well running our own lives and treating this as secondary to our jobs and livelihoods make it a tough challenge to overcome. While many are always creating clans under the name ONI despite us standing here today, its something I welcome now where I didn't before offering a chance to be in this one before they start their own. When talking about this I remember one instance specifically where staff and I just had a difference with members that they could not understand. Halo clans is a form of escapism for young adults but younger they are the less responsible they are about the daily life that takes place before you turn on your console or PC. In this instance I'm thinking about our members had banded together in a "hate campaign" against our staff because of our lack in activity. I wasn't able to communicate how important school or jobs were to us in staff before the clan or community so many took offense to that, some even left in the frustration citing that our command was inactive while all it was were people working to reach financial goals and to support others. Ultimatewolf805 put so much pressure on one our leaders VADM G Dvorak or Gabriella that she left the clan, he didn't even know she had a son and was simply not going to play Halo or video games at all. He didn't have a job or anything to understand responsibilities that take place before launching your game. I still don't know how to navigate and support that kind of culture but hopefully something like this never happens again. As for our relationship with other ONI groups, they are all but non-existent. We have something going on with @CINC A Stone which I am very happy to receive and talk to at all, but its on the basis of validation which is something that no one can really do for anyone else, it is in the end non-beneficial to this ONI. Because of the earlier mentioned story writing as well that all the role playing undertone clan leaders tell stories that just often conflict with ours in ONI. As an example we believe what makes someone a leader here is the tenure and experience, there is a key performance indicator internally to decide when someone is ready and how someone is awarded. Many other ONI groups change their gamer tag to add CINC or Admiral as a prefix and declare themselves to be leaders. Its something that would not be allowed with us, would surely be grounds of removal in most clans too. Practically everything about other ONI groups is different, to the point that we find no common ground sometimes. I doubt most would just play a game of Halo Infinite with me on the same team. Our relationship with other ONI's suck but I don't see a way it'll get better. If you ask around most people think ONI sucks because of one group, that group will often share the blame and point at another ONI group or us. Its hysterical how deep this can go but its only going to worsen as our media and my time/effort is going towards building this platform and not chasing drama.
  17. Was playing in the new playlist and while the maps are great they don't honor Halo 3. The playlist and message announcement was that this was going to be a new experience and many people entered it thinking that we were receiving something more true to the classic experience. Because of that there is a few vocal about the playlist and its problems. Its been revealed that the maps all had a sandbox tune to include more Halo Infinite weapons where a BR might have been a Commando was placed. I think they play better with the original sandbox the developers made, but all in all its not like the game has an expanded weapon palette like Halo 5: Guardians did. I place the blame on us, the fans not reading between the lines or what was actually announced before entering the playlist. I honestly think while Halo 3 is probably more popular than Halo CE, the return of the armor from CE and its birthday being the 15th we should have seen a CE playlist instead of the H3 one. All in all, this actually aligns with the Mountain Dew promotion going on right now which promised a more classic true to Halo 3 experience but the current weapons do not support the maps like we remembered it before.
  18. I wonder if Naughty Dogs layoff might affect the Last of Us 3 rumors or remaster I think they were planning with Last of Us 2 alongside the next season of the show.
  19. Yeah at some point it'll be forced to your gamer tag but I'll check it out. I'm not a fan of people changing names even that often, I just have horrible memory so names really come and go for me. A Woody Allen quote is always welcomed. I don't know if you have been exposed to too many other ONI's but I'm interested in what you might think about the entire issue. I don't think HSA avoids the problem altogether, but imagine if you guys did so successful that the 2nd or 3rd in charge decided to split away and start a community with the same name? What would you do?
  20. It was a sad day for the competitive community in what was one of the earliest and most successful online tournament websites is shutting down. Even prior to Team Beyond and Beyond.net the Gamebattles arenas ran Halo from Halo 3 on to Halo 5: Guardians before almost exclusively being for Call of Duty. It was so well oiled as a machine and business that it was integrated into Call of Duty. You could play others in official matches through the game without ever looking at the site or application. I expect this change comes form Microsoft's acquisition of Activision. Microsoft actually already owns a tournament organizing platform called Smash.gg and so this comes at no surprise, but it is arguable which one is better in both branding and legacy. Most of you probably have never heard of Smash.gg whereas Gamebattles has been central to the culture of competitive esports for first person shooters. Activision Blizzard is planning to sunset and no longer host the GameBattles platform. The company is committed to providing account holders the opportunity to transact any balance through pay-to-enter competitions and micro-transactions before January 15th, 2024. Thank you to the GameBattles community for your loyalty.
  21. I had to look up the My Hero Academia battle royale, I remember playing the Naruto Shinobi Striker it was kind of stepping into the space with a 3 man team against 4 teams but I don't know. I think having more options is better but to be honest there isn't too many I enjoy to play. I can't actually think of all the playable games right now that have the option.. Fortnite Apex Legends CoD Warzone PUBG ??? Honorary mention to Roblox, Fall Guys and Minecraft which all kind of have solid modes for Battle Royale. Halo could even be added now with the capabilities around forge but this doesn't scream over saturated to me.
  22. Found the problem, it was the group you were in previously. Should be fixed now! I'm glad you'll listen, plan as you go and where I would be more specific with my goal plan to be flexible if you want to expand and accomodate more kinds of members. Its simply not as fun for serious role players to be with chilled out players and that balance is something no clan has achieved. I do wish people would get along, I invited both Stone and Ava here but it didn't seem like either were interested in adding value and just look to take. I know many other ONI's who say they know me or use this site to validate themselves when in all reality we are just making a platform for others to enjoy Halo and talk about events, ideas and goals. Someday when I can finish the website I know it'll bring more people together but until then we are left to our own devices.
