  1. Yeah, I mean speaking from 10 years into Halo, its clans and leading its something everyone wants. The plans and execution of it are always sound until first contact. When Mike Tyson was asked by a reporter whether he was worried about Evander Holyfield and his fight plan he answered; “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” What Tyson said is similar to the old saying “no plan survives first contact with the enemy”. The enemy here doesn't have to be personified and instead can be the challenge of starting a clan. Starting a clan especially as a "department" or Office that does not service anything is already a fair undertaking. Its something people plan all the time but the execution is where it falls apart. In this I think the plan needs to survive the kind of challenges that come with being both new to clans and new to the name. There is little point to start one because of the challenge but if you insist I really recommend to take in account what I'm about to say. “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first then seek to win” Sun Tzu, the Art of War. Its cringe to quote such an novel piece of literature around war but it applies to this in that everyone needs to figure out the roles and niches they fit to build culture in a clan before ever thinking of starting one. Its where most clans fail or fall altogether. Its about being cool but also actually skilled. I don't know you hardly at all, I don't think we've been in any of the same clans but if we were members of the same clan I should known of you, you should be the best member there and that's what I really mean in all of this. If your friend group isn't filled with the best members of your old clans its going to be very difficult for you and not worth the effort in my opinion. A Unit can be anything, but you can only create one at a time. So if you already have one you won't be allowed to create another. Otherwise an option to create one should be on this page https://www.lysithea.ai/units/
  2. This is kind of late as I get back from a busy weekend, too busy to actually follow the event but Quadrant wins the Europa Halo Blackpool event and while this might not come as a surprise its still very much a great thing to see this team in great form since the update of competitive settings to Bandit Evo starts. Quadrant is again, RSicaa, NorwenSLG, Tchik, Lqgend and the coach Kronos.
  3. It comes from how stories are told. If you hear a story told by one person you will think of it and understand it in one way. If someone else tells a story by the same title you would be confused. The authors of these stories disregard one another and tell different stories using the same title. That is what most conflict boils down to, a difference in rules and organization. This is explained in our orientation of ONI and what a narrative is; as a game master and author myself the narrative is the single most important thing of any clan as it dictates the rules and organization. To others a narrative is just known as an orders of battle (ORBAT) and does not stray too far from real world examples and is not all serious as it sounds. It can be down to how memes are shared and whats funny that is often contested between groups too. In the "big picture" the problem is that all ONI groups invalidate eachother, both because its all for fun and madeup but also in its definition- ONI is not a category for people to add their clans to, too many leaders are adding labels and co-opt ideas with their own headcanon. It ruins the experience for everyone involved when it becomes more important to have an identity than to play video games. I really suggest joining ONI instead of creating your own. We have opportunities and openings for all kinds of leadership and need it to, there is a demand here and space for legacy but also honor, nobility and trust in our name and history. To me its absolutely crazy to start a clan and call it ONI when this one here exists. If I were to start a clan its purpose is clear (defeat another clan, help me reach a multiplayer rank, help others complete achievements) than after that its done. Its name and theme are all to benefit it but simply if one already exists and especially if I see problems with it I would join and tackle the challenges altogether.
  4. Still need a weapon? Halo 2, released in 2004, is a cornerstone of the gaming world that left an indelible mark on the industry. Developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios, this first-person shooter is revered for its groundbreaking multiplayer features, captivating storyline, and technical prowess. The game's plot, set in the 26th century, follows the iconic Master Chief as he battles the Covenant and the parasitic Flood. The introduction of the Arbiter adds depth to the narrative, offering players a dual perspective. However, Halo 2 truly set itself apart with its revolutionary multiplayer mode, introducing Xbox Live and reshaping online gaming. The technical achievements, from stunning graphics to advanced artificial intelligence, demonstrated the potential of the Xbox console. Beyond its critical acclaim, Halo 2 became a cultural phenomenon, with iconic characters and a memorable soundtrack. As a landmark title, Halo 2 continues to be celebrated for its lasting impact on gaming.
  5. Man what in the heck is that. It must be using cookies to find out more information. Many web apps are VERY very intrusive in that way. I see the points thing often but haven't ever taken advantage of it because Bing sucks. Still think Bing stands for Because Its Not Google and its just something Microsoft did to couple its browser with something they own. I don't think AI is getting smarter, sure machine learning is there and it is generative but what its doing is being more gimmicky and trying to make a personal appeal to you. Instead its clearly creepy, they will probably straighten it out though since Microsoft's is being included as a service at an enterprise level to businesses.
  6. Can't believe Halo 4 is more than a decade old at this point. I played it a few months ago for the first time again and really liked it. The campaign was great and I had so much fun with it. Plenty of moments that were just great and made me hyped (getting to pilot a Mantis for the first time and getting to go apeshit on the Covenant Remnants and Prometheans, the final mission where you get to pilot a Longsword straight into Didact's ship with 117 playing in the background which was an absolutely creative take on the Warthog run from the previous games, etc) In spite of all the backlash, and while I'm well aware that it isn't the best game in the Halo series and has plenty of flaws, Halo 4 is just that one game that I can't bring myself to dislike, because for whatever reason it had a population in Japan and Asia and retained a bit of interest until they put those cool armors behind DLC towards the end of the game. I thought the games BR was a laser, the Railgun feels cheaply done and the Spartan Laser could have had some work but it was very unique in its own way.
  7. In a surprise the storm begins with the inclement weather to really follow after Zane and his departure from SSG. I thought the team did very well together and Zane really meshed with the team and the financial success of the Spacestation Gaming team. Zane is a highly valuable player and I cannot imagine this new Season is going to start well with the roster changes bound to happen in his exit.
  8. In addition to the countless others in Bungie's lay off, one that came after promising the Xbox-Activision acquisition went thru it would not happen Bungie also laid off its long time composer Michael Salvatori. For those that might not know Michael Salvatori, Michael Salvatori has been writing music for video games since 1997. His first game was Bungie’s Myth: The Fallen Lords. Since then he has contributed music to every Bungie release, including Myth 2: Soulblighter, Oni, and the first five Halo games (2001-2010). He has also composed music for Stubbs the Zombie (2005), Hail to the Chimp (2008), and Disney’s Guilty Party (2010). Michael began writing music for Bungie’s Destiny in 2012, and he continues to this day along with co-writers Skye Lewin, Josh Mosser and Michael Sechrist. These soundtracks have won numerous awards, including ASCAP’s video game soundtrack of the year for Destiny: Rise of Iron in 2016. They are currently working on music for Destiny 2: The Final Shape (working title). He should've retired in Bungie but ends his time there being laid off. This has me worried about Bungie and where Marathon might go from here without Michael's work. Many will say, this is a time to rejoice and adopt Michael Salvatori back to our Halo family. But I don't think that will happen in the near future even with news that a new Halo game is joining the franchise on Unreal Engine 5.
  9. To add, Cloud 9 seems to be bowing out of the Halo competitive sphere once again. Likely to other economic pressures this year. I suppose, if they can't maintain the top team with competitive salaries then they are likely to not stay in the league.
  10. $5,000 on the line and half of SSG Wins the latest tournament held on the new settings with the Bandit Evo Rifle. After reverse sweeping and a clean sweep in the reset, Congratulations to Spin Again, your Halo Infinite $5k Ultimate Open CHAMPIONS! Its monumental to see Bound on top but also this unfamiliar roster before the impending rostermania of players switching teams and contracts. A particular player I've met in person Falcated is high caliber and I am hoping to see him again competing breaking Top 4 but likely to be in Top 8 should he not find a team to really skill up with. Bubu dubu also another key player to keep an eye on since his time with Splyce. I expect a lot of great things to come in season 3 of HCS.
  11. Came across this one, its pretty cool. It is software but is a motherboard. [ https://github.com/cifertech/ESP32-DIV ]
  12. The day is upon us, a game that I figured out how to play and delved deep into is seeing its sequel. My PC can run this but I am struggling with heat and do fall below the recommended specs so will have to upgrade my PC (which I'll probably make another thread on) but the game itself I have been anticipating since its announcement and I will likely not see the sun to this game as I learn it again and put in many hours. I will likely document the city, I was hoping to record and upload a series but we'll have to see! Is anyone else playing Cities Skylines 2?
  13. Just watched The Menu and I have to recommend it, just too good. It’s a horror/thriller and satire on high end dining experiences with references to many Michelin star restaurants. The main villain is also the same actor as Voldemort from Harry Potter so if you were looking for that kind of villainy it’s there!
  14. When: Sunday, October 29th at 11AM PST Game/Format: Halo Infinite/4v4, double-elimination Settings: HCS/Ranked Platform: Cross-play Entry: Free Prize Pool (USD): $5,000
  15. When: Saturday, October 21st at 2PM EST Game/Format: Halo Infinite/4v4, double-eliminations Settings: HCS/Ranked Platform: Cross-play Entry: Free (Teams must consist of 2 females and 2 males) Prize Pool (USD): $800
  16. I didn't play the Beta, was going ot actually make a post about the beta. Didn't find the time to sit down for it let alone know it was happening. For me though Call of Duty is a staple franchise, I bought nearly all the games and especially like the modern warfare series. I haven't preordered because my current PC just can't run it at even the lowest preset settings for long so I will probably pick it up after a title update or so depending on the content out for it. I preordered MW2 because it came with the Oni operator which was a Japanese samurai inspired armored character, he was too cool to pass up.

I 100% am excited for this game and prefer a solid experience. They can take their time though I'm enjoying Halo Infinite and have a backlog of games to get through anyway.
  18. Randomly came across this while deleting some old content on my harddrive, @Im Mr Morris one day we'll have drinks and make fun of the stupid stuff we were doing in 2015.
  19. Xbox gave me 5 free trials for PC Game Pass. Its a good way to play Starfield for free for 14 days, about enough time to run through the campaign and finish the game so I recommend it for that. This is a trial so it may ask for payment information and try to charge after 14 days so I recommend cutting the subscription off on the 13th day. Anyway here is the code and link! Want to play on PC Game Pass? I have a free 14-day trial to give away. This one's on me! Redeem it by ‎11‎/‎19‎/‎2023: https://www.xbox.com/xbox-game-pass/invite-your-friends/redeem?offerId=02c6de8e-7350-4c85-b8f2-20ee389e4167
  20. This is more or less about a Tweet from Eli Elite, In the amateur Halo scene there is this animosity for new players. Its always existed and just part of the community cycle of new players and old. While Eli keeps this vague everyone things this is about Kuhlect and his stardom. To many including myself, we have no idea where this guy came from. Kuhlect doesn't have a long history with ams, through custom lobbies or even tournaments in Halo titles before so where and how was he picked up in the beginning teams being formed for Halo Infinite? I don't have a clue whatsoever, but to be frank it doesn't matter. He earned his spot, as a marketable and new player also navigated the industry signing to 5 teams through his career and continueing on to be competitively paid. A detail that is missing is he business orientation, Kuhlect was not only at the right place at the right time but able to speak the same language to network and build this career around him that many amateur players for over 10 years have not found the success in. I'll definite write more on Kuhlect in a different thread. For Eli Elite, like PiLEZ I know him personally and he was signed to the esports organization I created through ONI represented in 2018 at MLG's events. I think Eli Elite's really good, but he could not replace anyone in Top 8 right now and this is a horrible look for him. Again being a pain point to becoming a marketable player the unnecessary jealously and envy for others publically makes for the beginning of a career ending event. In fact he doubles down later to a comment aPG made but its not important to anyone to read. How does someone determine an opportunity over others besides simply saying so? They typically do through grit and placements. Eli Elite stepped away from competing and many took advantage of that. He doesn't deserve any criticisms for that and is entitled to have this opinon but I see most amateurs struggle with the success of others. The scene itself is growing but the level of competition isn't and with the new season seeing the Bandit Evo meta amateur players will have a chance again to disrupt the ladders. Who do you think this is about? Who do you think can breakthrough Top 32 next season? Are there any players you think are AMs but have the potential to be Pros?
  21. [ https://upperdeckstore.com/haloprints ] Halo limited edition prints from Isaac Hanaford, this is a great collectible from Isaac if you love Halo art or need something in the background.
  22. Just looking to gauge the interest so far in our community!
  23. Having personally known PiLEZ, the trajectory of his career was really unfolding before him in a downward spiral. Wether he was in the right or not really matters anymore because what the public perceives is his wrong doing and grown mans plight to justify heinous acts. In addition to this, he is constantly harrassing Tashi and keeping storylines active with other amateur players who unequivocally at his expense ruin his own chances of competing. Part of being in the esports industry is the marketing potential percieved. This is the same as with communities like ours, if we are respectful and virtuous we can invite partners and sponsors. With any player part of the contract negotiation and inevitable careerhood is this same virtuous undertaking, to both be more than oneself but also have the potential to increase their brand. With PiLEZ, I do believe his career is over because he has doubled or tripled down in horrible takes and its such a hard thing ot see that in many eyes he is "cancelled" but also simply no longer marketable as a amateur player or competitor. Lying about being able to compete has to be the icing on the cake. He costed his teammates that believed in him a weekend and travel expenses because while they were allowed into the venue they were not allowed to join the tournament with him on the team. Because most of this stuff will fade to the internet and away from memory I wanted to make this post in hopes that other search engines will index and keep it for anyone interested. For anyone wondering why even bother giving the light of day, its because I had a vested interest in Victor and his PiLEZ alias. Funny enough PiLEZ actually stood for Peace in love everything zen. PiLEZ was part of our Esports organization back in 2018 and specifically competing at MLG New Orleans 2018 and since then had been a friend until recently.
